Modern Bathroom Designs

Glass-walled shower enclosures are a bathroom design trend that is remaining strong. Replacing traditional shower rods and curtains with glass shower enclosures creates a distinctive and luxurious atmosphere. This also makes maximum use of the space.

One of the best things about glass shower enclosures is that they allow more light. This gives the bathroom a greater feeling of clear, comforting openness. And an added benefit is that it allows the display of the shower’s interior and its design elements.

A tasteful mixing of different sizes and colors of tile adds to the feeling of luxury and relaxation. Along with the glass shower enclosure, the design allows natural light to flood the space and make this bathroom both modern and welcoming.

Contrasts in Materials and Elements

Another trend in bathroom design is to contrast materials and colors, creating updated bathrooms that are both modern and charming.

Here the use of a darker colored woodgrain floor, which can be porcelain tile made to look exactly like hardwood, gives a perfect contrast to the bright white elements of the vessel tub and subway-tiled shower. Walls painted in a light gray give emphasis to the delicate shades of the window covering and countertop. In this Abbey design, we also added a retro touch with the lighting fixtures and showerhead.

A designer’s touch in using contrasting materials and elements allows a finished project that is both comforting and thoroughly modern with a distinctive design that reflects the homeowners’ tastes.

Modern Efficiency With Elegant Touches

One of the challenges in master bathroom design is making the absolute most of a compact space. Abbey’s designers are up to the challenge.

Above is an example of a compact design that maximizes the use of the space and gives the homeowner a supremely elegant design.

Again, a glass-walled shower enclosure makes the entire room more open and allows views of the beautifully designed tilework. Adding a short wall beside the vanity sink maximizes the use of the space and allows the addition of a power outlet.

The vessel bathtub is the main focal element and has privacy provided by Roman blinds. Here our designers chose a very large, dark tile. This creates a greater feeling of open space and contrasts with the stark white tub. Dual vanity sinks give the homeowners plenty of room. The overall effect is that of a true luxury spa.
